Photos of unnamed P-38J at the Smithsonian Udvar-Hazy Center, Chantilly, VA, June 2013. Set literally in the shadows of one of the most famous planes in the world -- Enola Gay -- this P-38J is displayed in a highly weather-worn condition, as it might have looked on a flightline somewhere in a theatre of operations.

While listed as a P-38J-10, it has some parts that suggest the it was used as a test mule. Note the J-style nose gun camera and L-style plyon gun camera, plus the dive flaps. The display featured fully-deployed Fowler flaps.

The lighting was a tricky and because the Smithsonian does not permit tripods or monopods I was forced to use rather high ISO settings, low-f stops and slow shutter speeds. Thus many shots are bit grainy, blurry and/or contain shallow depth of field.
